Columbia University Careers
Some of the highest acuity patients in the world come here, to be treated by the best professionals. At NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, we accomplish Amazing Things to save lives every day. In our over 140-year history, our distinguished roster of colleagues has won over 15 Nobel Prizes in Medicine or Physiology.
Situated on a 20 acre campus with views of the Palisades, Hudson River and George Washington Bridge, people describe NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center as an awe-inspiring place.
We’re proud of our close relationship with Columbia University Medical School. With sponsored research totaling more than $600 million annually, our colleagues have the opportunity to pursue research that encompasses all areas of public health. For 2012, the university received a six percent increase in National Institute of Health (NIH) grant support. That represents the largest increase for any medical institution in the country.
As part of our “uptown” campus, you’ll champion the care of patients in an organization that offers almost every clinical service. From pharmacy to emergency to acute, critical and perioperative care, our mission unites compassion with the vanguard of research. As one of the few hospitals with surgical teams who operate on inoperable tumors, patients flock to us across borders. Across the board, we leverage collaborative partnerships. For example, NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center works closely with our own Mailman School of Public Health, the only accredited school of public health in the New York City metropolitan area.
We’re enjoying substantial growth and laying the groundwork for an exciting future. In 2010, the Vivian and Seymour Milstein Family Heart Center opened its doors. The heart center delivers a full range of cardiac care on its six floors, including vascular ultrasound, cardiac catheterization and an expanded ICU/CCU.
Ongoing projects include the Radiation Oncology Center in the Garden, which will provide modernized space and deliver cutting edge treatments for our cancer patients. But that’s just the beginning.
